When I started this website, I wanted it to be based around Sciatica Relief. Dealing with chronic back pain is an eye-opening experience. You think, I’m to young, that won’t happen to me, it’s not that bad. It is that bad and you are never too young.

Usually there are reasons that spark the incident that creates sciatic nerve pain: lack in exercise and sitting all day, how well you take care of your body, the food that you eat, drinking, trauma, or just time.

For me, I believe it came from being a highly athletic person and changing into a lifestyle of sitting for long periods of time, while wearing heals for 10-12 hours a day.

I took for granted being young and didn’t realize how much you can affect your body without even realizing it.

Most People Search For Happiness Outside Themselves.

In these past 5 months, I have started on a journey I never want to stop. I have become a new person. I am ever-changing, always moving forward. Believing I was on a path to deal with my health and finding out that was just the beginning of where I was broken.

If you know me or follow me, you might know that I am a very happy person. I love making people smile, my free spirit drives me.

My body was always in pain and my mind never at ease, there were times I couldn’t even get out of bed due to the sciatic pain. Drinking every night was not a question and I never felt comfortable about my body.

I decided it was time to resign from my management position and focus on healing my Sciatica. Believe me when I say there is never a great time to do such a dramatic change. We were not set up financially for me to make this decision, but little changed weren’t going to give me the result I needed. The leap was mandatory!

There Is No Quick Fix.

Constantly doing research, I found that there is a lot of great information out there on sciatica, but it is overwhelmed with a lot of craziness. “Cure Sciatica in 7 Days!” HA! To the person who thinks you can CURE a herniated disc in 7 days, you are smoking something good!

Depending on the reason for your sciatic pain, is what determines how you need to go about dealing with the pain. Personal at home care will help with mild, short term pain. Yes, hot cold treatments do work, you can take a bath and your body will feel amazing, and rest is good for the body.

Unfortunately, you cannot help the problem long term with these solutions. To live a pain free lifestyle, you need to make some changes to the lifestyle you are already living. Whether your Sciatica flared up due to an injury or lifestyle, you need to make sure you are responding to it correctly and making an appropriate change.

You will be told to avoid any major activity or exercise concerning your back. “Here take these anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers. Get some rest and take it easy.”

This is what starts a majority of the back pain in the first place! How do you expect to support your spine with a weak core?

Allow Yourself To Remain Open To New Ideas.

I could not keep repeating the same mistakes after gaining the knowledge over the past few months.

My exercise increased, but I started out doing what I had done in the past, heavy weight. Oh why, why did I not listen. My core was gaining strength and my pain started to get better, but overall I was not getting the result that I wanted. I wasn’t losing weight, I was still dealing with the agonizing pain after laying down or sitting down for too long, then attempting to get up.

My outlook on how I approach my exercises at the gym completely changed one day.

I started listening to my body and focusing on what it reacted to. Cardio became even more important, balance workouts and stretching were of vital importance, and my core became my focus.

Once I made this change, my body flourished. I was seeing results in every way, my body was supported.

You Are What You Eat.

No matter how great you are in the gym, if you do not make a change to the food you put into your body, you will never get the result you want.

Your body is 80% of the food you eat and 20% the work you put into it. You cannot expect for your body to perform at its best if it does not have the fuel to keep it going.

If you fill your gas tank with soda, will your car run?

Changing habits is probably one of the most difficult thing to do. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for a lot of my life, I know! There was always something delicious getting messed up or cheesy side dishes being over made. AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON DESSERT! My sweet tooth is like a raging alcoholic. I can smell sugar from a mile away!

And oh yeah, alcohol…

That delicious, mind relaxing, mood igniting drug that a lot of us dabble in a little more than we should!

Balance is key to life!

I will not be the one to tell you to stop drinking, that hamburgers are the worst thing in the world, that I don’t eat pizza, and that dessert isn’t the best thing ever made.

However, I will be the one to tell you that drinking every night is not going to solve your problems, eating a processed food diet will ruin your body and cause your back pain, and indulging in delicious desserts will inhibit you from your goals.

Best I Have Ever Felt.

Having been on countless diets, in and out of the gym my whole life, and have worked myself to death, I can personally tell you that no one can choose you but you.

You have to decide that it is time to make the leap. You have to make the choice to remain consistent. You have to decide that you are important, your happiness is your priority, and that you cannot give, if you are not full yourself.

My life keeps getting better and I haven’t even started yet.

I am not on a diet, I cannot wait to go to the gym, and I don’t live by anyone else’s rules but my own.

Becoming the best version of yourself and living on your own terms will be the most rewarding journey you will ever embark on!
